tuneBugz! Teachers

Our music educators complete the 25 hours of required intensive training to attain their teaching certificate through Music Together® Worldwide. In addition to the training certificate, all tuneBugz! teaachers are required to complete 20 to 30 hours of  apprentice & mentoring alongside a master teacher.

Once a teacher moves on to their own classes, teachers continue to grow through the support of their mentors and peers as well as colleagues around the world through regional songs and skills workshops, conferences and online professional development provided by our international Music Together teaching support network.

Topics we love:

Creating neuro-divergent affirming classrooms

Creating thriving mixed-age learning environments

Learning through modeling

Working with intergenerational song circles

Educating parents and caregivers about how music learning supports all learning

Every teacher at tuneBugz! has unique musical gifts and skills and each has a clear passion for early childhood music education.  Each teacher delights in passing on their love of music making to children and families.

We LOVE our teachers!

Founder, Director & Registered Music Together Teacher

Making music at home, with family, is my earliest musical memory. I feel very fortunate that music was part of not only my family culture, but my West Virginia / Appalachian heritage as well. My Mother was deeply enamored with cultural traditions of music making, musical storytelling, singing, and dancing, and I grew up listening to her vinyl collection, which contained everything from Gregorian Chant to Frank Zappa.

After moving to Austin in 1988, I threw myself into music all through high school. Choir shaped my confidence and craft, and I went on to study piano, guitar, and music theory.

Being a young adult in the 90s meant my years were filled with myriad genres of live music and musical immersion in the kind of community that put Austin, Tx on the map as one of the most musical cities on Earth.

After high school, I jumped right into an intensely fulfilling career in educational curriculum publishing at Holt, Rinehart & Winston (later to be known as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Education Company). It wasn’t until our first son Milton was born, that it occurred to me to apply my love of music and education to early childhood. So, for the love of my passions and my children I went in search of the very best music education program out there and was delighted to find Music Together.

All children ARE musical. I started tuneBugz! using the Music Together curriculum/method to make sure that all parents have the opportunity to raise musical families and so that we break down any barriers. Every parent can improve the quality of their child’s life - simply by playing musically at home - regardless of their own musical ability.

What is on my heart is making sure every family has access to the joy and beauty of music-making that everyone deserves.

Amber holds an Internationally recognized Director's license from Music Together in exceptional standing since 2009 for family and community classes, In-School programming for school based music and movement programs and Canta y Baila Conmigo (Spanish Immersion Music and Movement for Early Childhood.)
