Mixed-Age - Birth to 5

Our mixed-age classes give children a chance to learn from each other, and a chance to share their techniques as well.  Mixed age classes give every child a chance to participate at a level that’s comfortable for them. Families love our mixed-age classes because siblings can play together in the same class, with all siblings benefiting from the experience.  The Music Together curriculum is designed to meet the needs of a broad range of ages and abilities, from infancy through kindergarten making the mixed-age classes a true family music experience.

Babies Class (0-6mos)

TuneBugz! Music Together offers two options for babies.

  • Babies from birth are able to attend our Mixed-age class, whether registered on their own or attending free (up until 8 months) with an older brother or sister.
  • Babies 6 months old (ideally pre-crawling) and younger are eligible to first take our Babies Only class as a one-semester introduction to Music Together before they move into the mixed-age class.  (This class cannot be repeated.) The music, activities and materials in Babies Only are specifically geared toward infant and baby development in the first 6 months of life and are really gearing your family up to join the mixed-age class with a deep and full grasp of the Music Together curriculum and how it applies to your baby's development.  This one-time intro to Music Together class gives parents a clear understanding of how musical development unfolds in the very young and results in lots of smiles, coos and stimulation for babies - not to mention new friendships for Mom & Dad too!
Rhythm Kids™ - Level 1 (4/5)
Rhythm Kids Level 1 is the next musical step for your preschool child (ages 4–5) with a parent or caregiver. Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and begin to play music-based games. Rhythm Kids Level 1 guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative, as they:
  • make up their own drumming patterns
  • invent new ways to play rhythm instruments (shakers, sticks, etc.)
  • create movement ideas for songs
  • even take a drum solo!

Rhythm Kids Level 1 carries on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age eight. Classes are for preschoolers ages 4–5 and include:
  • 10 weekly, 45-minute classes
  • Songbook and CD (2 copies) each semester
  • Access to online drum-play videos and other material

Children will:
  • Explore the world of rhythm through movement, instrument play, and song
  • Develop basic rhythm skills, like keeping beat, improvising, ensemble play, and soloing
  • Learn to create, cooperate, and express themselves musically
Drums will be provided for the class each week, but if you’d like your child to have a drum to play with at home (and then continue to use in Level 2 classes!), please ask your teacher about the special discounts on djembe drums that are available to Music Together families.
Rhythm Kids™ - Level 2 (ages 5-8)
